color combinations for fall

Someone asked me the other day, what color combos would you put together for a fall wedding. So I went to my pantone swatches and pulled out some different color combinations I think would be a great touch to any event. Of course, the great thing about custom designs for your event is that we can work out any colors to create the feel and look of your event.

What colors would you put together for your next event?

album design, oh my!

Here at Carla David Design we not only specialize in all the details that style your special events, we design wedding albums. Photography is one of my hobbies and I just love gleaming through all the images that our clients send us. From these images I create a special memory book of their wedding day. We also design baby albums, like the first year of life.

We received some images of our albums from Photography by Alexander, and I couldn't help but share them with you. For more information regarding these designs give us a ring. Enjoy!

Spring is here!

Today's blog post is contributed from Kara our intern.
Spring has sprung! It is so wonderful to be outside on a bright, sunny day. If you’re looking for something fun to do while outside this weekend, try painting pots! Whether it’s just a bold color or a design, painted pots will spruce up the outside of your house. It is very relaxing and fun to be outside while painting. Clay pots range from $4 to $15 from Home Depot depending on the size. Patio paint is recommended by the experts. A 2 oz. bottle is about $2. Happy Painting!

Happy Cinco de Mayo

I love Mexican food and what a better day than to pull out the tortilla maker and whip up some fresh guacamole. What are you doing today to Celebrate?

Chunky Guacamole
prep time: 15 min.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe avocados
  • 3 limes, juiced
  • 1/2 red onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 serrano chiles, sliced thinly
  • 1 big handful fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

Halve and pit the avocados. Scoop out the flesh with a tablespoon into a mixing bowl. Mash the avocados with a fork, leaving them somewhat chunky. Add the remaining ingredients, and fold everything together to gently mix. Lay a piece of plastic wrap right on the surface of the guacamole so it doesn't brown and refrigerate 1 hour before serving.

Pantone Color Report for Fall 2010

This goes out to all my fall brides. If you still haven't decided on a color for your wedding let this be some inspiration. The Pantone Fashion Color Report for Fall 2010 is out and I'm loving some of these colors.  What colors have you chosen?

In honor of your mother...

A week from today is Mother's Day and I always try and find the perfect gift to let her know how much I love her and appreciate all the love and support she has given me throughout the years. Below are some ideas of gifts for your special mother.

Great piece of jewelry {Elva Fields}

Give her a little rest and send her to a B&B for the weekend. Pack the ticket or good news in a stylish piece of luggage. {Globe-Trotter)

For the mom  you loves to cook or just has a green thumb. I'm loving this live lavender plant in moss pot. {Pottery Barn}

To go along with any of the above gifts why not add a little personalization and give her custom stationery. {carla david design}

What are you doing for your Mother this year?
