Birthday Party Invitations

Every birthday is a reason to celebration and we love when our clients like to go all out and custom their events to who they are and what they like to do. These invitations invite guests to an evening of fun at a local lounge. The illustration is by Tara Hannon from Meant for a Moment Designs. You can't see in this picture but the paper is sparkly and gorgeous. Self standing menu cards, water bottle labels and the signature drink sign were just some of the details that we designed to style this event.

tips for addressing your envelopes

{Etiquette for addressing}

I'm always asked about addressing envelopes...below are some tips for social titles when addressing the outer and inner envelopes.

Full names with the appropriate titles should always be written on the outer envelope. The inner envelope names/titles will differ depending on the formality of the event.

Social Titles

Married couple - formal:

{outer} Mr. and Mrs. Micah Cohen
{inner} Mr and Mrs. Cohen

Married couple - informal:

{outer} Loren and Dina Nelson
{inner} Loren and Dina

Married couple formal/Children under 18 living at home:

{outer} Mr. and Mrs. Karl Carter
{inner} Mr. and Mrs. Karl Carter
Miss Zoe Carter

Married couple, different last names - the woman in addressed first in this case

{outer} Ms. Ariana Rothstein Fisch-Field
(and) Mr. Greggory Field
{inner} Ms. Rothstein Fisch-Field
Mr. Field

Married couple, both are doctors, different last names:

{outer} Doctor Christina Yang
(and) Doctor Preston Burke
{inner} Doctor Yang
(and) Doctor Burke

Tip: Formal titles, such as Doctor or Lieutenant, should always be spelled out and not abbreviated

Single woman, with or without guest:

{outer} Miss/Ms. Nichole Lewis
{inner} Miss/Ms. Nichole Lewis
Or
Miss Lewis and Guest
or
Miss Lewis
Mr. Cordero

Tip: The direct guest's name is the only one that appears on the outer envelope. On the inner envelope, however, write their name followed by "and Guest." If you know whom he or she will be bringing, it's more personal to include that person's name, on a separate line

wedding garters and invitations oh my!

What do you get when you design your stationery around wedding garters. Well we did just that. To really see how we can truly custom design your wedding stationery we've designed the above invitation sets from inspiration of two of Julianne Smith Wedding Garters. If you are getting married check out her website. She has a wide array of garters and you can even custom them with your colors or embodier your name or wedding date. Its a great way to add that "something blue" to your wedding attire or just have as a memento after your wedding. Thanks Julianne for the inspiration!

Party with a Purpose!

Last Sunday I attend Sara and Brigg's "Party with a Purpose" put on by Connect The Dots Events. It was a great event and who doesn't like to party when there is a great cause involved. Over 2000lbs of non-perishable food was donated at the event for the local Food Pantry. Thanks to Sara for asking us to design the save the date magnets, invitations, name tags, vendor thank you board and the design for the reusable bags that were given as gifts.

Wedding Stationery: Tips for Brides on a Budget

• Print as many pieces together. It is more economical to print a thank you note along with your other elements versus printing it later.

• You don’t need to print in more than one ink color to create a beautiful piece. If you really want to add extra zing without the extra cost, vary your paper color instead.

• Stickers are a great way to “brand” many elements of your wedding while keeping your costs down. Used in a classy way, stickers can serve as labels for your programs, labels on wedding favors, tags for welcome bags in the hotel rooms, etc.

• You don’t always need a fully custom design to create a custom look. Ask a design studio if they will offer you a discount if you choose from one of their existing designs. Then, modify it with a different ink color, paper color or font selection.

• See if you can order extra invitation elements that can double as something else: for example, we offer folders as part of certain invitation designs. These folders can double as program covers on the day of your wedding – the look is beautifully consistent and inexpensive since you’ve kept your costs down by not reinventing the wheel.

Are you having a party, open house or throwing a bash? Custom invitations are always the perfect glimpse for that big day your planning. This is a peak at the invitation we designed for Historic Events in Annapolis Maryland. They just opened their new studio and it is so cute and trendy.
